So much government money was spent on a new pier that only the ferry uses. Since the new year alone they have missed several days. In fact islanders call this pier "the passenger pier" . I have seen the tender for this contract which states in numerous places that the vessel must be capable of using An Caladh Mòr" . Surely you shouldn't be in position to receive a contract because your price was lower than the opposition if your vessel isn't fit for purpose?? Islanders have not complained because maybe some are still unaware of this fact. Maybe perform a survey or check ships ais which will show history of vessels track & you will see the above from the minister statement cannot be backed up. The ferry service has come into this pier in high swells which should be applauded . The cargo service could not be disrupted should they have been using this new pier also.
