It so amazing to read the debate on this, another serious issue affecting people with disabilities, from an Association who's MEMBERS are keeping people in jobs, at many levels of the company.

I remember the days when hotels DID NOT WELCOME people with disabilities into their premises, now as business is low in the tourism trade, they want business. I ask, will the hotels limit when they choose the custom of people with disabilities to avail of there service? I am sure I know the answer.
A SERVICE IN KILKENNY IWA Again some years ago, independent living units was built - this gave people with disabilities to live independently (with supports) and to move on to getting their own housing from local authority. This was a great service and successful. A lot of fundraising was done for this by the local people of Kilkenny.Yes, it was closed by IWA and actually left people with disabilities with no other choice but to go back to family or different settings. NO MEMBERS had a choice in this decision. Also in the same area RESPITE UNITS WERE CLOSED IN KILKENNY -- NO MEMBERS had a choice in this also .
IWA IS NOT MEMBER BASED - IT IS UNDER HSE RULINGS AND ONLY GETTING WORSE IT'S COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MEMBERS DOES NOT HAPPEN.
