I am in a somewhat similar situation. In my case I will shortly be in a position to purchase at a discounted price for cash following a legal settlement. However it appears to me I will not be allowed to purchase because my only income source is from disability allowance. I have received an application form from Galway City Council but having read the criteria to be met before approval is granted it would appear I have little or no chance of getting approval. I was hoping I would be in a position to purchase the 2 bedroomed house I have been living in for the past 6 and a half years and be able to pass it on to my son who is also a long term tenant in private rented accommodation. There needs to be more scope for people in my position to purchase under the 2016 scheme.
