Thank you Clare Daly on asking the Minister for Education and skill questions regarding Caranua, you seem to be the only TD listening to us the survivors of abuse. We feel very let down by one government after another. We have asked for meetings with the former Minister Ms. Jan O' Sullivan, we get this same answer over and over again "Caranua is an independent statutory body established pursuant to the Residential Institutions Statutory Fund Act 2012 to support the needs of survivors of residential institutional child abuse. Administrative and operational issues such as those raised are day to day matters that are the responsibility of Caranua itself and I have no role in those matters".
So if the Minister is not responsible then please inform us who is responsible? Caranua must be answerable to someone. The people in charge of the Fund on behalf of very vulnerable people are making us feel like beggars and we feel abused all over again. This need to STOP. Barbara K
