To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if consideration will be given to extending maternity benefit eligibility to women who have not built up the required PRSI contributions prior to the birth of their baby and the possibility of providing a partial rate maternity benefit in these cases; the financial support that can be made available to women returning to Ireland who have lived in countries which do not have bilateral agreements on maternity benefits with the State; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
