I have repeatedly raised the issue of the misuse of quad bikes and motorbikes on our streets and in parks. A committee was set up by the Minister to look at the issue. It seems that this committee is of the opinion that the Garda has enough powers to deal with this matter. That flies of what I have heard at every joint policing committee and safety forum meeting I have attended. At such meetings, gardaí have clearly identified problems with the road traffic legislation, including in the context of powers of seizure. Communities are still being terrorised, with fatalities and injuries continuing to occur. The Government has repeatedly kicked this can down the road in the hope that it will go away. When will the Government bring forward real proposals to deal with this scourge before more people are injured or fatalities continue?
