As an Opposition spokesperson for children and youth affairs, it is my role to hold the Minister and her Department to account. In this instance, a report commissioned in 2016 has not been published. I hear what the Minister is saying about legal advice and that she has spoken to the Attorney General but it is hard for me to be critical or to do my job without knowing the base line. The base line is what is within the report, not what is in the recommendations. It is the findings that matter. We have to start somewhere but we are starting in the dark. The Minister knows it and I am glad she does but we all need to know it. We need to know where we are starting with in respect of Oberstown. I cannot park the issue based on a recommendation - I need to know what is in the report.
