We saw in the debate last night just how backward and reactionary the "No" side is. There are some people in this Dáil who claim to love both but they were not showing too much love in several debates in this Dáil. For example, one of the Deputies in a debate in 2010 on social welfare talked about the elephant in the room, the considerable number of young women "many of whom are still teenagers, who consider single parenthood a choice which can be financially rewarding" and about people having babies outside of committed relationships and how that must end - it was Deputy McGrath - and the idea of people using having children as an escape from poverty.
