60. To ask the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation her views on whether the shift in Science Foundation Ireland's mission from basic oriented research to applied research, as per the Industrial Development (Science Foundation Ireland) (Amendment) Act 2013, has been detrimental to the funding of frontier research here with attendant loss of skills; her plans to redress the balance; if the research priorities set out by ministerial directive following that Act are due for review; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
