-----and forced to travel outside Ireland for medical care. When a woman is diagnosed with such a pregnancy, and if she decides that she cannot continue her pregnancy, she is faced with the stark and traumatic option to travel to another jurisdiction and that is an option where the woman has the finances to so do. This is not acceptable.

There are people in the Gallery and outside this Chamber who want this issue dealt with. For the record, I note the Minister apologised this evening but we have an opportunity to ensure that we do not inflict cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment on another Irish woman. For God's sake, why can we not take that opportunity? If it should be the case that this legislation is unconstitutional, let the courts decide that. We have had one excuse after another. The Minister has failed women. He has let them down. We have opportunity here tonight to take a stand and change that.
