I move amendment No. 1:

To add to the Schedule:

"Educational (Admissions to Schools) Bill 2015 - Order for Second Stage."

This is a very important Bill. It is a year since Deputy Jan O'Sullivan published a Bill that will bring an end to charging fees for applications for admission.

It is one year since the then Minister for Education and Skills, Deputy Jan O'Sullivan, published a Bill proposing to bring an end to charging fees for application for admissions, introduce fair and transparent enrolment policies, enhance equality and remove soft barriers to enrolment. This Bill must be restored.

I was a member of the previous Committee on Education and Social Protection which did considerable work on this issue. Other members included Deputy Jim Daly, former Deputy Joanna Tuffy and Deputies Jonathan O'Brien and Charlie McConalogue. We put a tremendous effort into the legislation and the committee adopted a unanimous approach to it. It must be restored to the Schedule.
