Seanad amendment No. 44:Section 18: In page 22, between lines 34 and 35, to insert the following: “Withdrawal of complaint 20. The Principal Act is amended by the insertion of the following section after section 43B: “Withdrawal of complaint 43C. Where a complaint is withdrawn by the complainant— (a) while it is being considered by the Investigating Committee, the Committee may, with the agreement of the Council—(i) decide that no further action is to be taken in relation to the matter the subject of the complaint, or (ii) proceed as if the complaint had not been withdrawn, or(b) while it is being considered by a panel, the panel may, with the agreement of the Council—(i) decide that no further action is to be taken in relation to the matter the subject of the complaint, or (ii) proceed as if the complaint had not been withdrawn.”.”.
