I am grateful for the opportunity to speak to the Technical Group's motion. Like many others, I have been following the very sad news from Greece, in particular, the state of turmoil, the riots and the state of the parliament. Unfortunately, over the weekend, we saw the sad pictures of older people not being able to withdraw money from ATM machines and queueing for food parcels. Dioceses in Greece have given millions of bags of food to people who turn up on a daily basis. We are all deeply affected by the suffering of the people concerned.

I point out to my constituency colleague, Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh, that Sinn Féin supported taking the path that has led to Greece being destroyed in supporting the outrageous party that has caused the lives of people there to be practically extinguished.
