Question No. 3 relates to the one-parent family payment and the situation after 02 July next when the payment is lost once the youngest child reaches seven years of age. Prior to any such change being introduced, the Government promised that Scandinavian style child care would be available but that has not happened. Single parents will be required to be available for work after 02 July this year, once their youngest child is over seven years of age. Child care services will need to be put in place on a full-time basis, including after-school services. What plans does the Department have to do that?
