Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Anthony Lawlor - the appointment of valuations arbitrators and the resulting delays to the development of Naas town centre; (2) Deputy Brendan Smith - the assassination of former Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Boris Nemtsov; (3) Deputy Seán Conlan - the importance of retaining the Department of Social Protection offices in Ballybay, County Monaghan; (4) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the need for upgrading the N22 Kerry to Cork Road; (5) Deputy Peadar Tóibín -the increasing number of house repossessions in County Meath; (6) Deputy Paul J. Connaughton - the need to accommodate people due to finish on community employment schemes who are nearing retirement age; (7) Deputy David Stanton - the need to develop marine tourism in Youghal, County Cork; (8) Deputy Denis Naughten - the impact of the proposed removal of the Athlone-Westport route on access to Roscommon and Castlebar hospitals and the potential for expanding access to Ireland West Airport, Knock; (9) Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin - increasing the powers of HIQA to investigate complaints so that it might prevent vulnerable people being put at risk; (10) Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice - the funding requirement for fabrication operators to comply with more compliance; (11) Deputy Brian Stanley - hospice services in the Midlands; (12) Deputies Dessie Ellis and Brendan Ryan - the senior alerts scheme tendering process; (13) Deputy Charlie McConalogue - concerns regarding the qualification criteria for financial assistance for postgraduate education under the student grant scheme; (14) Deputy Billy Kelleher - increasing the powers of HIQA to investigate complaints so that it might prevent vulnerable people being put at risk; (15) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh - the position regarding redundancies and possible loss of services following the announcement of winning tenders under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme; (16) Deputy Clare Daly - the need to enable homeowners with pyrite to receive their legitimate exemption in relation to the property tax; (17) Deputy Mick Wallace - the need to discuss the Garda Commissioner's promotions and change plan announced last week; (18) Deputy Brian Stanley - the position regarding redundancies and possible loss of services following the announcement of winning tenders under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme; (19) Deputy Maureen O'Sullivan - the need to ring fence funding for the school completion programme; (20) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the lack of availability of inpatient beds for children with mental health difficulties; and (21) Deputy Joan Collins - the need to clarify TUPE arrangements for the unsuccessful local development companies.

The matters raised by Deputies Dessie Ellis, Brendan Ryan, Brendan Smith, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin and Seán Conlan have been selected for discussion.
