To ask the Minister for Social Protection her views on whether 21.8 medical assessors, including the chief and deputy chief medical advisers, is an adequate number to assess applications for social welfare payments in view of the fact that more than 56,000 social welfare applications required a medical assessment in 2013; her plans to tackle the backlog and ensure any such assessments are carried out in a timely fashion; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
