As I understand it, the Bill is due to be in committee next week. Obviously, if Deputy Ó Fearghaíl wishes to propose amendments, that is the place to propose them and they will be addressed at that stage.

Deputy Ó Fearghaíl referred to domestic violence. Work is under way to reform and consolidate the Domestic Violence Act 1996. It is planned that the reform of the legislation will include new provisions on emergency barring and safety orders. These reforms are needed to enable Ireland to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, that is, the Istanbul Convention to which Deputy Ó Fearghaíl referred.
