We have decided to put in place a protocol for dealing with numerous historic and legacy issues that are beginning to arrive on the desks of Deputies and Ministers. We need to deal with those. We need to put in place a process between the Minister and the Attorney General for dealing with those historic and legacy cases. As I pointed out, the Cabinet agreed to the Minister's recommendation today that there be a review of the status and strengthening of the operation of GSOC. It is very important to have a system that is able to withstand and deal with the range of issues that come before it. The Government will proceed with the Minister speedily to specify timelines so people can see the progress towards having a justice system, Garda Síochána and GSOC that measure up to today's standards.
