Local Government Reform Bill 2013: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage

I move amendment No. 51:

In page 116, between lines 11 and 12, to insert the following:“(6) A regional assembly, upon determination that a development plan prepared by a local authority is inconsistent with the regional spatial and economic strategy applicable in its jurisdiction, shall forthwith instruct a local authority to make such amendments deemed necessary to ensure consistency is achieved in respect of the regional spatial and

economic strategy.”.”.
The Minister said on Committee Stage that he was willing to look at the wording, "either in compliance or consistent with", as opposed to "have regard to". There should be a consistency of language throughout the legislation.
