Did Bethany Home improve the lot of those who passed through its doors or did it make their lives worse by the standards that existed at the time? I am not here to defend those who ran Bethany Home - it cannot have been a pleasant experience - but I am certainly not in a position to condemn them out of hand in the way proposed by Sinn Féin.
