I move amendment No. 7:

In page 9, line 44, after “treatment” to insert the following:

“(including care and treatment in respect of motherhood)”.
These amendments seek to clarify the current situation that maternity services for women are provided by or on behalf of the HSE, both in the hospital context and in a community or home setting. This is in line with current practice in hospitals and in the community. The majority of women choose to have their babies delivered in hospitals and therefore, it is important to be clear that the HSE is in a position to provide this service. Amendment No. 7 provides this clarification in respect of inpatient services. I therefore ask Members to support this amendment.
