To ask the Minister for Finance the reason in view of the crisis in mortgage arrears he did not take the power away from the banks and appoint an independent body with the power to compel banks to come to binding agreements with mortgage holders in last week’s mortgage arrears plan; if he considered this option; and if so, the reason he did not include it.
