Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Michael McNamara - the need to protect rural transport in any reorganisation of services; (2) Deputy Derek Keating - the need to ensure a safe Garda fleet particularly in view of the situation at Clondalkin Garda Station, Dublin; (3) Deputy Pat Deering - the need to extend the hedge cutting season; (4) Deputy Colm Keaveney - the need to ensure the continuance of the State's only child and adolescent sexual assault treatment service; (5) Deputy Seán Crowe - the impact of upward only rent reviews on businesses and jobs in town shopping centres, such as the Mill centre Clondalkin, and the need for landlords to adopt a more proactive approach to making commercial rents sustainable; (6) Deputy Catherine Byrne - the regeneration of St. Teresa's Gardens, Dublin 8, with reference to departmental funding for the construction of 57 new housing units; (7) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the introduction of measures to ensure the robustness of the system to endorse the licences of motorists who have incurred penalty points for driving offences; (8) Deputy Dessie Ellis - the effects of the reduced opening hours of St. Michael's House swimming pool, Belcamp, Dublin; (9) Deputy Charlie McConalogue - the impact of the removal of the gateway designation for Letterkenny Derry as a result of the Government's decision to abandon the National Spatial Strategy; (10) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the need to conduct an inquiry into the slaughter and export of horsemeat, the controls on imports of meat, and the labelling and processing of meat products; (11) Deputy Clare Daly - the hunting of a stag in County Meath on Monday by the Ward Union Hunt; (12) Deputy Eamonn Maloney - the Mangan report on child benefit reform; (13) Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin - the further restrictions announced by the HSE Beechpark Services for autistic children in north Dublin; (14) Deputy Mick Wallace - the need to retain a post office in the village of Duncormick, County Wexford; and (15) Deputy Robert Troy - the report card of the Children's Rights Alliance.

The matters raised by Deputies Catherine Byrne, Robert Troy, Thomas P. Broughan and Derek Keating have been selected for discussion.
