I move amendment No. 1:

To delete all words after “Dáil Éireann” and substitute the following:“has confidence in the Government as it deals with the current economic crisis in as fair a manner as possible, while prioritising economic recovery and job creation.”

It is usual when a motion of confidence is moved in this House that there is some expectation that it might be successful. This is not such an occasion. The motion before the House amounts to little more than political posturing by the Sinn Féin party.
