The board of Tallaght hospital is considering the Health Information and Quality Authority, HIQA, report on safety standards at the hospital's emergency department. I understand the recommendations contained in the report will have consequences and implications for emergency departments throughout the State. The report was commissioned in the light of the unsafe practice at Tallaght of placing patients awaiting a bed on trolleys close to the emergency department.
