I want to break the issue into two parts, the first of which is the notice that Game UK provided to its employees. We need to put in place procedures that ensure proper notice is given and that every alternative is explored, including the possibility that people could take over some of the stores. I understand that in other countries where Game operated such alternatives have been explored.

On a practical level I ask that every arm of the State be made available to ensure that the 121 employees, nine of whom are in my constituency of Limerick City, receive redundancy payments and social welfare entitlements in a timely manner.
