The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government promised on the public record a raft of legislation to deal with the hundreds of thousands of people who have decided not to pay the household charge. He referred, for example, to the fines and data protection legislation. Will the Tánaiste outline which legislation the Minister will bring before the House to ensure people who decide not to pay the household charge will be pursued by the Government? How does this approach square with the Minister's earlier statement that hundreds of thousands of people will not be brought before the courts?
