It is intended that the two issues will be dealt with reasonably quickly and the constitutional convention will then get down to the rest of its work. The constitutional convention is a new and innovative approach to dealing with the discussion of constitutional issues. The Government does not want total ownership of the convention, which is the reason there is consultation on it with the Opposition if it has views on it.
