I received the following letter from a man with a family:

...sorry for dropping you a message like this. I am one of the people that will be hit by the Carers being means tested. I only earn 400 per week, we have 3 kids, one of which has DS. He is 3, our eldest is 7 and we have a new baby 2 months old. As you are well aware of the cost and the work that goes hand in hand with any special needs child you know the story all too well. My partner is the little guys carer.... as I said, I get 400 per week when ever I do manage to get a full week in, she gets 230 carers and I get 190 per week fis. With this new Means testing change, and if they keep the formula of working rates out the same, I will only get 50 euro per week.....190 down to 50!!! We will be homeless. We just can't be robbed like this.
