Question 44: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the extent to which it is envisaged that various levels of legal fees identified by the public as being excessive are likely to be reduced in the context of current or proposed legislation; if any evaluation has been done to identify those aspects of legal charges deemed to be most costly; if studies have been done to compare the various costs of legal services with those in adjoining jurisdictions; the extent of the calculation that has been done as to the likely benefit accruing to the Exchequer arising from a reduction in the legal costs of the various tribunals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
