The reason I raised this is that the European Commission has won cases in the European Court of Justice on both of these directives, so they must be transposed into Irish law immediately. Will the Taoiseach ensure that the potential impact on rural and farming communities is lessened and that standards similar to those applied in other EU states are applied in implementing the directives? Will the Government take the same approach as other EU states?
