Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Brian Stanley - the plans for the future status of Portlaoise hospital, County Laois; (2) Deputy Denis Naughten - the need to reopen the urgent care centre in Roscommon in view of overcrowding at adjacent accident and emergency departments; (3) Deputy Patrick O'Donovan - the need to prioritise the tackling of childhood obesity; (4) Deputy Derek Keating - the salary of the new chief executive officer of Allied Irish Banks; (5) Deputy Derek Nolan - the situation in the emergency department of University College Hospital, Galway; (6) Deputy Seán Conlan - the proposed reduction of opening hours of the minor injuries unit at Monaghan General Hospital; (7) Deputy Catherine Murphy - the provision of funding in respect of Teach Tearmainn, County Kildare; (8) Deputy Joan Collins - the need to guarantee funding in respect of refuges in County Kildare for those needing protection from domestic violence; (9) Deputy Joe Costello - the need for the Minister for Defence to take responsibility for the security of the Commander-in-Chief at Áras an Uachtaráin; (10) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the need to maintain funding for the RASP and Sphere 17 programmes in Dublin 17; (11) Deputy Michael McNamara - the entitlement of retained firefighters to jobseeker's allowance; (12) Deputy Mick Wallace - the regulation of the purchasing and sale of metal; and (13) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the need to implement a housing policy to deal with the increase in the Dublin City Council housing list.

The matters raised by Deputies Brian Stanley, Denis Naughten, Patrick O'Donovan and Michael McNamara have been selected for discussion.
