The Taoiseach is familiar with the case of the late Garda Robbie McCallion and the outcome of the case during the general election. In the eyes of many, this has diminished the protection given to gardaí on the beat. In the context of the forthcoming criminal justice Bill, I asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he has plans to strengthen the protection for serving gardaí. He said he has none.
