Deputy Michael Lowry was appointed as a Minister in the Fine Gael-Labour-Democratic Left Government of 1994-97. When it became clear that there was an issue, the former Minister, Deputy Lowry, was removed forthwith. This party, in negotiating with the Labour Party for the formation of this Government, did not seek any support from Deputy Lowry.
