When this matter was considered by the Joint Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Food yesterday, the Minister made the case that €57.3 million, €26 million of it from the Exchequer, is needed. We were in the very same position last year. The reality is that a similar amount in excise duty was taken from the betting industry in 2000. It has since decreased to €31 million. It is going in reverse, instead of forward.
