Today the Government is asking us to agree to the ordering of business that will allow for the ramming through of the Social Welfare Bill that seeks to savagely strike out again at the most vulnerable in our society. Against all of that, as has just been referred to, the executives in Allied Irish Bank, a bank that is now virtually State-owned, will be paid bonuses up to a sum of some €40 million, we are told, and the cheques will be in the post by 17 December in time for Christmas.
