The question of live imports, in particular those of lamb and sheep being brought through Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom mainland, was not addressed. These imports come at specific times when the market needs them in order to suppress the price. The Mercosur deal means that the type and nature of the imported product would be a serious threat.
