Adjournment Debate Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan - the need to review the proposal to amalgamate Kerry Education Service with County Limerick Vocational Educational Committee; (2) Deputy Seán Sherlock - the report published in November 2010 by the European Court of Auditors stating that the closure of the Greencore sugar factory in Mallow, County Cork in 2006 with the loss of 240 jobs may not have been necessary; (3) Deputy Chris Andrews - the need to investigate expenditure on Horse Racing Ireland; (4) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the need to introduce a licensing procedure for the establishment and operation of gold shops; (5) Deputy John O'Mahony - the need to address the effect of the reduction in home help hours on the elderly; (6) Deputy Andrew Doyle - to discuss the issue of the implications of the European Court of Auditors report that determined that the Mallow sugar plant need not have been closed; (7) Deputy Jack Wall - the report published in November 2010 by the European Court of Auditors stating that the closure of the Greencore sugar factory in Mallow, County Cork in 2006 with the loss of 240 jobs may not have been necessary and the links with the previous closure of the Carlow plant; (8) Deputy David Stanton - to ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to debate the finding of the European Court of Auditors report that the decision to shut down the Irish sugar beet industry was based on out of date information and that this has led to a situation where we are totally dependant on sugar imports which totalled almost €100 million in 2009 and if she will make a statement on the matter; (9) Deputy Joe Costello - the need to ensure that Dublin Adult Learning Centre is adequately funded; (10) Deputy Martin Ferris - the European Court of Auditors report on Mallow sugar factory; and (11) Deputy Mattie McGrath - the need for the immediate installation of crash barriers on the M8 at Clonmore, Cahir because the current situation is extremely dangerous and there has been a number of accidents.

The matters raised by Deputies Jimmy Deenihan, Joe Costello, John O'Mahony and Thomas P. Broughan have been selected for discussion.
