I ask the Tánaiste about the judicial misconduct Bill. A report in The Irish Times earlier this week set out the implications of not having this Bill. When allegations made against a member of the Judiciary had to be processed under a constitutional arrangement by an Oireachtas committee, we received a bill of €1.9 million from lawyers for the judge concerned. A personal injury case involving a modest award was processed through the courts and thereby accrued lawyers' fees of €2.1 million. The Taxing Master thought it necessary to reduce these fees by 82%.
