In addition to the detailed analysis of accommodation needs currently being carried out by forward planning section, the Department is also examining a number of broad policy issues regarding the establishment of new post-primary schools. As part of this, consideration is being given to the setting up of a new framework in respect of the establishment of new second level schools and their patronage.

Any proposed building projects required arising from the forward planning section's analysis will be considered in the context of the Department's multi-annual school building and modernisation programme for 2010 and subsequent years. However, in light of current competing demands on the capital budget of the Department, it is not possible to give a more indicative timeframe for the delivery of projects at this time.
