They are political views; they are not manufactured views. These are reactions to visible decisions made by an Irish Government and these are the responses around the world to these decisions. Commentators from these countries have been equally impressed by the decisions of the Government. Take the view, for example, of the Citi chief economist Willem Buiter, who said Ireland's intelligently designed approach to restoring fiscal stability is a model of how to do things. Martin Wolf, the chief economics editor of the Financial Times said last month, that he admired very much what the Irish policy makers have done. He said they really do seem to understand the implications of being in a monetary union.
