I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of local and national importance, namely, the failure of the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to pay REPS 4 grants to more than 30% of applicants who were promised payment before Christmas or immediately afterwards. Many of these farming families are under extreme pressure, partly due to a 33% fall in their incomes and the failure of the Government to deal with the banking crisis. It is vital this crisis for farming families is debated urgently.
