I commend the planning authority in my county, which has set down design guidelines. It is important that there be design guidelines, but we need discretion. With the greatest of respect to planners, planning can be subjective. One sees planners coming and going and opinions changing. Irrespective of whether we like it, this is the way it works. What was the flavour of the month yesterday might not be the flavour of the month today.

These are my few points and I am glad that I had an opportunity to contribute to this debate. I welcome the legislation.
