Special Ombudsman's Report: Statements
It is only right that we recognise the great loss that occurred in south west Donegal, when five members of the fishing community there lost their lives. It is a pity that those people had to be caught up in this inquiry. No matter what inquiry takes place, it is important that facts are established and that we do not deal with fiction. Unfortunately, some fiction has crept in here.
The Ombudsman invited spokespersons from the Opposition parties, namely Sinn Féin, Labour and Fine Gael, for a briefing on a report this week in advance of this debate. If this is the case, maybe Deputies Creed, Sherlock or Ferris might explain what that was about.
