We heard all about diesel and the impact on the agricultural community. Serious issues remain to be addressed. What the Green Party proposes in this tax is to deal with carbon, change behaviour in respect of climate change and reduce carbon. That is desirable. The question is whether it is a crude mechanism and to my mind it is. It operates entirely as a sanction and there is no clear indication of an incentive.
