National Asset Management Agency Bill 2009: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage

I can obviously look forward to amendment No. 90 being accepted later on.

This is the core point. I can accept a certain protection of confidentiality for those who have met all their obligations but I do not see how that applies for people who have not met their obligations and where, in this extraordinary situation, the taxpayer has had to acquire those obligations and pay more than the market value for them. To be denied the identity of those who are defaulting in respect of an obligation the taxpayer owns is inconsistent with the idea of fair play. The public have a right to know.
