Statute Law Revision Bill 2009: Second Stage

I commend the Attorney General and his office on the methodical work they have done on this project, which is evident from the information provided on this website. I dealt with phase 1 of the project during my time in the Seanad not so long ago. As I recall, I contributed to the debate on what became the Statute Law Revision Act 2007. The process employed by the Office of the Attorney General appears to be extremely good and methodical, involving public consultation, openness and accountability. In my view, that is very much the way to go about drawing up legislation of this nature.

As the Minister of State and Deputy Deasy stated, this work also has a historical value. I must confess that I also possess a degree in history.
