I am pleased to be able to contribute to the debate on Deputy Leo Varadkar's Bill introduced on behalf of the Fine Gael party. En passant, Dr. Garret FitzGerald is flavour of the month all around the House, or perhaps from our side and the other side as well. However, I do not know if this is the case everywhere else. In his day, Deputy Mansergh was a wonderful adjunct to several prime ministers and taoisigh of various persuasions. It is doubtful if without him the spate of books now coming out from various important people who have retired and who have much to say on what they brought to public affairs would have been possible.
