I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the urgent need for the Taoiseach and the Minister for Health and Children to intervene directly to prevent the planned removal on 22 July of all acute services from Monaghan General Hospital, including all emergency and inpatient medical services, with potentially devastating consequences for the safety and health care of all those who depend on the hospital, as well as very serious knock-on effects for Cavan General Hospital which will have to cope with some thousands of additional inpatient admissions per year without the provision of a single additional inpatient bed.
