I fully accept that such a person in custody should be detained for the least amount of time possible. Section 12 of the 2003 Act requires that warrants that are not in English or Irish should be accompanied by a translation into either of those languages. Obviously there is a difficulty over a period and that is one of the reasons for extending the time to 14 days. The courts have also made it clear that the central authority should ensure that all warrants are correct in form and content and clear in the translations provided before they are presented to the court. There is a very strict undertaking. I cannot accept the amendment.

Question, "That the words proposed to be deleted stand", put and declared carried.
